Auction house Phillips facilitates the purchase and sale of twentieth-century and contemporary works of art, design, jewellery, watches, photographs and editions. It operates globally, with branches around the world. It also operates a representative office in Antwerp, but since many client-collectionists stay at the coast during the summer, the auction house looked for a suitable location to be present there as well.
AQUALEX x Phillips
The choice fell on the AQUALEX Concept Store. "AQUALEX brings a nice programme of exhibitions throughout the year. That style suits us." says Marianne Hoet of Phillips. "So we were delighted to move into this space in the summer."
On the ground floor is a cylindrical, compartmentalised exhibition space that allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the artworks. While the downstairs space offers all facilities for working and receiving guests.
Partnering with an existing exhibition space is nothing new for Phillips; around the world, it enters into partnerships with galleries and museums. The goal? To modernise the experience of art collecting, increase access to art and thus bring more value to the art world.
On 3 August, the spectacle begins. Then Phillips will move to its summer base where, until 30 August , it will exhibit a selection of paintings and sculptures by established and young 20th-century and contemporary artists, including Sterling Ruby, Bernard Frize, Luc Tuymans, Laurens Legiers, Loic Raguénès, Gilbert & George, Andy Warhol, Raoul De Keyzer and Guillaume Bijl. Some (but not all) of those artworks are offered for sale.
