Phillips Auction House facilitates the buying and selling of 20th-century and contemporary artworks, design, jewelry, watches, photographs, and editions. It operates globally, with offices around the world.
Phillips also has a representative office in Antwerp, but since many of its clients and collectors spend their summers on the coast, the auction house sought a suitable location to be present there as well. The choice fell on the AQUALEX Concept Store. “AQUALEX offers a beautiful program of exhibitions throughout the year, which aligns with our style,” says Marianne Hoet from Phillips. “We were therefore delighted to be able to occupy this space during the summer.”
On the ground floor, there is a cylindrical, compartmentalized exhibition space that allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in the artworks, while the lower space offers all the facilities needed for working and hosting guests.
Collaborating with existing exhibition spaces is not new for Phillips; it partners with galleries and museums worldwide. The goal? To modernize the art collecting experience, increase access to art, and thus bring more value to the art world. On August 1, Phillips will move to its summer base, where it will exhibit a selection of paintings and sculptures by established and young 20th-century and contemporary artists until August 29. Some of these artworks (but not all) will be available for purchase.
